Sten Witmer is a Licensed Architect based in Bozeman, Montana, specializing in contemporary residential, commercial, and remodel projects. A Pennsylvania native and graduate of Montana State University, Sten came West to pursue Architecture school where the skiing was world-class—and never left.

His approach to Architecture is rooted in permanence. Buildings are permanent. Every design decision, every material choice, every spatial relationship is considered through the lens of time and place. Sten believes exceptional Architecture must do more than function well—it must enhance its surroundings, create a genuine sense of place, and respond thoughtfully to the landscape and community it inhabits.

With years of hands-on construction experience alongside his Architectural practice, Sten brings a rare understanding of how design translates into reality. His background in actual building—both his own projects and those of others—informs every detail in his construction documents. This lived expertise means contractors work more efficiently, problems are anticipated rather than discovered on-site, and the built result honors the design intent.

When not designing buildings, Sten can be found on two skis or two wheels, or exploring the spaces where thoughtful design meets the landscape he calls home.
